Showing proper balance proportions of yellow vs. purple and blue vs. orange.
This color wheel by Johannes Itten shows the correct color proportions to use in any project. Since yellow and orange are strong colors that come forward, Itten suggests using less of them in proportion to their complementary colors. Since red and green have roughly the same value, they can be used in equal amounts. Itten's suggested proportions are:
Red | 1/2 | Green | 1/2 |
Orange | 1/3 | Blue | 2/3 |
Yellow | 1/4 | Purple | 3/4 |
This color wheel uses an HTML5 Canvas element to position the graphics on the page. This allows us to use a wider variety of graphics: triangles, clipping paths, etc.
