A disaster supplies kit is simply a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.
You may have to evacuate at a moment's notice and take essentials with you. You will probably not have time to search for the supplies you need or shop for them.
You should have your own food, water and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least 72 hours.

An earthquake is the sudden, rapid shaking of the earth, caused by the breaking and shifting of subterranean rock as it releases strain that has accumulated over a long time.
While earthquakes are sometimes believed to be a West Coast occurrence, there are actually 45 states and territories throughout the United States that are at moderate to high risk for earthquakes.

All Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico coastal areas are subject to hurricanes. The Atlantic hurricane season lasts from June to November.
Floods and flying debris from the excessive winds are often the deadly and destructive results of these weather events. Hurricanes traveling into mountainous regions tend to produce especially heavy rain, which can trigger landslides, mud slides, and flash flooding.
