Mentors

Why Girl Power Needs You

Mentor a girl in one of our supported programs or chaperone events. At a minimum this entails a planning meeting with program representatives, an initial introductory meeting with your protégé, and at least three follow up sessions where you and your protégé participate in planned activities that help to build a supportive and caring friendship. Or be a mentor at a one-time session.

Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per quarter, including three planned acitivites. You may do more if you and your protégé choose. If so, supported programs will continue to provide ideas and opportunities for further relationship building activities. One time mentoring sessions require only a two to three hour commitment.

Benefits of Being a Girl Power Mentor

As a mentor, you will enter into the program thinking you will be inspiring girls — and you will. However, our mentors report that the girls in the program provide inspiration to them, even sparking new ideas for solving problems on the job. In addition to interacting with amazing young people, you will network with phenomenal professionals in your field, who are not only passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics but passionate about giving back to society.
