Teachers

Ask any technology pioneer, "Who influenced you to become what you are today?" and the resonse almost always involves an educator at some level who provided a foundation in thinking, problem solving, confidence-building, creativity, curiosity, and exploration. The spectrum includes, but is not limited to, math and science educators. So if you are an educator, consider helping to power Girl Power.

Why Girl Power Needs You

You are on the front lines. Research has demonstrated that student learning depends most of all on the knowledge and skills of classroom teachers. Girl Power provides an ecosystem of mentors, parents, and corporate resources such as labs and equipment. Central to making that ecosystem run is you, the classroom teacher. In addition to providing instructional support for key aspects of our program, you can identify and direct interested girls to our programs.

Your relationship with Girl Power is symbiotic. You provide the resource of your professional know-how. Girl Power provides you with access to resources to enrich your curriculum and offer students opportunies beyond the lesson.

Benefits of Being a Girl Power Advisor

Advisors are educators and professionals who want to help power the programs but are unable to commit to the same level as program teachers. Advisors assist in strategizing, securing resources, and preparing for events and meetings. This entails a planning meeting with program representatives, mentors, student leaders; an initial introductory meeting with your protegé, and at least three follow up sessions where you and your protegé participate in planned activities that help to build a supportive and caring friendship. Or be a mentor at a one-time session.
